Yet another calendar that you can no longer get. I know, I am pretty bad at this, but I do have some in store for you that are still available and hopefully will continue to be so until next week. Okay, so the Selfridges x L’Oreal Calendar is also one that it is not at its first edition. I have seen one for the past two years at least, unless I am mistaken. L’Oreal actually had two calendars, one with Boots and one with Selfridges, aka this one. Why did I decide to go for the Selfridges one? Well, it was the first one on the market and there is also the fact that Boots does not deliver to my postcode in central London!! I am still super upset about that one. It was such a shock when I discovered that many retailers had issues with my postcode, especially since I used to live in one area that everything was done “faster”. Anyway, so not the point right now, but I feel like screaming each time I remember that little bit of information.
The Selfridges x L’Oreal beauty advent calendar is absolutely gorgeous. That is the first impression you get. The packaging is high quality, the plastic form in which the items are placed in is beautifully crafted and made of very strong plastic and the card is hard and protective. These details might not matter as much as the actual content, but they do. They show that the manufacturers placed a great importance on the details. You do not need to worry about opening the doors as you need to do with Asos nor do you need to be extra careful with the entire calendar in fear that it will break like you need to do with the John Lewis one.
As for the products, there is a great combination of products from brands owned by the L’Oreal group. You have Lancome, YSL, Urban Decay, Vicktor & Rolf and the much coveted Kiehls. Some of the products are anti-ageing and others are also very loved by a younger audience which makes it suitable for a wide range of women, from your sister to your mother or even your grandma if you have a very cool and modern one. It might not be as suitable for a teenager as the Asos one is. Personally, I loved most of the products, actually I do not have any that I dislike which is an amazing feat, however there are some that are simply not suitable for me so I gave them to my mom. I feel like this calendar will make me want to get a lot more products from the L’Oreal group brands than before! I was already a fan and now it is only going to get worse.
Overall, I believe that the Selfridges x L’Oreal beauty advent calendar is amazing! When you look at the size of the products, you might feel like you paid more than what you got, but I do not think so. I admit that in this particular case I did not do the maths to check whether the actual value is higher (there are calendars whose value is lower, shocking, right?), but I got to try products that I might have not spent money on before and quite a lot of fragrances which I have been interested in for a while, but afraid to buy due to the fact that they are not exactly my usual style and I have a few too many designer fragrances that I do not use already. I won’t say that this was the best calendar of the year, but it is up there.
