If you have been following this blog for a while, you might know that this is not the first beauty advent calendar from M&S that I got. I wanted to link to it here, only to realise that it is one of the posts that got lost in the move 🙁 If you do recall the post in question, then you should also know just how excited I was to get this calendar out of all those amazing ones on offer this year or maybe you just found out, but yeah, I was super excited. Marks and Spencer offer amazing value -around 250 pounds worth of products for 35 pounds. The only catch is that you also need to spend 35 pounds on something else from their home or clothing sections. This can be quite tricky for people who do not shop often at M&S, but truly it should not be.
Some suggestions on what you can buy for the 35 pounds: Christmas pj – they some pretty cute ones each year, their basic tops are really nice and great quality plus various models and colours and one can never go wrong with a basic, for the first time in a while, they also have some pretty nice and comfy boots! These are just some examples, but rest assured that you will definitely find something you will enjoy.
Anyway, back to the calendar. This year’s calendar is pretty cute and I like that they went with a different design. It is nice to see change as unlike other retailers they decide to go with something completely different, but one that still has 25 boxes. Whilst I did keep last year’s version, I will probably not keep this one even though I do find it really nice. The quality of the card is really good and it is easy to open the boxes without breaking them and some have some nice messages inside!
As far as for the products, the majority of the products have not been included in the beauty boxes or in the previous calendar. The same brands sure, but not the actual products. There are 2-3 products I have seen in last year’s calendar or recent boxes. There are also a couple of new brands inside, or at least ones that I have not seen before. What I did not like as much as the fact that there are two nail polishes which for me is not very useful and the most disappointing thing is of course, the 25th box. Most retailers left the greatest item for Christmas day, but as far as I am concerned, M&S did the opposite.
Overall, the calendar is pretty great and also incredibly affordable. As of now, the calendar is sadly sold out online, but you might be able to still find it in some of the stores. To sum up, I do not regret buying the calendar. I am happy with the quality, but I guess I expected better than last year, especially considering the increasing amount of competition among retailers.
Have you managed to get your hands on an M&S beauty advent calendar?
