Before I delve deeper into the topic, I just wanted to say that this is definitely not when I intended to publish this article. It is pretty late and in just a few hours my post for tomorrow will also be up so I apologise for the emails you will probably receive. Also, I have been meaning to post my John Lewis advent calendar opinions long ago, right when I made the purchase two months ago. However, it is never too late and even though there might be some other calendars out there I should be telling you all about ASAP, I just had to talk about the first one as otherwise I would have hated myself. As you probably guessed by now, this will be the first advent calendar review in a long series, but also marks the beginning of my Christmas posts. Rest assure, not everything will be Christmasy!
Like I previously mentioned, the John Lewis calendar is the first one I bought as it was the only one on sale at the time. The next came out just days after I purchased this one, or at leats, the next one that I wanted to get. You probably read a few reviews so far, but maybe one more won’t hurt.
The calendar is beautifully designed, however the cardboard of which is made is not thick enough, it feels more like thick paper than actual card. It is great on one hand, but on the other, it can easily get ruined so you must be careful with it during transit if you decide to purchase it from store and hope for the best when delivered by post. However, if delivered by post, the company makes sure that the calendar is well protected. Just remember to take extra care of it, especially if you plan on gifting it.
As for the products, they are truly amazing and not products I have had the chance to try out before. Personally, I have not seen many of the products in any other gifts in the past and most are not included in the other advent calendars on sale at the moment either. You do not have to worry about getting too many duplicates which makes the whole experience even better.
The value of the products is also higher than the price so that is definitely a point in favour for John Lewis, but that is also the case with all other calendars. Out of all the calendars out there though, the John Lewis advent calendar is not necessarily the best value/price, but it is pretty great and also one of the most affordable luxury calendars. However, if you were to buy only one calendar this year, I would not make it this one unless you are incredibly fond of the products inside. When taken by itself though, the calendar is amazing, but when compared to others, it fails to meet the same standards.
You can get the John Lewis calendar from here.
