Throughout my life I haven’t worn much jewellery. It is not that I do not like it, but I rarely fell in love with a piece. While recently I might have started to wear more obvious pieces so that my personality does not go unnoticed in the proper, navy suits I have to wear almost everyday, each time I open my jewellery box, I am drawn to those few, delicate pieces that I received on special occasions throughout my school years. Those pieces have a meaning, those pieces I received as a symbol of my accomplishments and of course, as I reminder that I will always have the support of those who care about me. While they range from rings to earrings and bracelets, what they all have in common are the stones – diamonds.
Why diamonds? Besides the fact that they are a girl’s best friend (kidding) and their representation of purity, diamonds are forever. There is a reason why they are the most common stone found on engagement rings!
Two weeks ago, I was celebrating yet another special occasion – my graduation day. However, this time I did not have the chance to go out with my family and pick a new pieces as a reminder of this joyous occasion. To be honest, I was slightly disappointed, but I understood. They were in the UK for a couple of days only and those days well full of excitement and making sure that everything was running smoothly. It felt more like a wedding than a graduation! Online shopping is not something we considered as we have never done it before, well, not for jewellery at least. However, it seems that all my fears were in vain. When I was contacted by the team at The Diamond Store to review one their diamond pendants, I could not say no. It was the perfect opportunity to see whether there was a difference in quality and if the pieces were just as beautiful as they are often portrayed online. There is not and they are!
The S shaped, white gold diamond pendant is even more beautiful than what I was expecting and the presentation is exquisite. The delicate pieces arrived really fast, in a grey branded box that was covered by a plastic bag that gave no indication of what was inside. I actually shook the box a little as I was not expecting to receive it on that particular day and I did get a few stares on my way up to my flat. Inside the grey box was gift bag containing the box of the actual piece, together with all the information that is customary to receive when purchasing something of value. See, no worries? The experience is the same as it would be in store, however without the whole stress of making it home without the piece being stolen along the way.
The pendant itself was in a little branded box that was hosting yet another box which contained the actual piece of jewellery. While it was frustrating to open so many boxes, especially considering just how excited I was, I love the fact that The Diamond Store goes the extra mile in order to ensure that their jewellery is protected and arrives undamaged.
The pendant itself, like I previously mentioned, is small and delicate, however incredibly elegant. In my opinion, it is the right size of a piece of its kind. I would feel really self conscious wearing anything bigger, especially if it were not for an event that would demand it. This is a pendant I can wear on dates, on special occasions, but also in a less formal environment. Personally, I would not wear it everyday or whilst going shopping, but it is possible to do so.
I am really grateful that I was given the opportunity to review this beautiful piece and I will cherish it forever as a reminder of one of the most important days of my life. Also, I am glad that through this experience I was able to get over my fear of ordering jewellery online and I am sure that this is just the first piece of many that I will own from The Diamond Store.
