Argh, I feel like I am running out of time to post about all of these amazing things before the Christmas Extravaganza I have planed begins. Anyway, complaining over, yeah, definitely over. This is the first ever Cohort beauty box that I got, at least the very first black one as some you might remember, I tried their fragrance box once upon a time. I think they discontinued those and my blog post about them is also long gone (stupid hosting services, stupid me), but you can still see a photo of it on my instagram. Okay, now that was so awkward, even I am embarrassed by my old Instagram photos. I cannot believe the progress I made, I will have miles to go, but I am definitely in a much better place right now when it comes to photography.
Back to the black beauty box, I was quite reluctant to place an order as it is definitely not one of the cheapest boxes out there. The price of the box is a whooping 35£ and compared to other boxes is definitely a lot more expensive. However, you get high quality and premium beauty items or at least that is what they claim, is it right though? Yes, it pretty much is, however I can understand why you might also be reluctant to make the purchase. For the same amount of money, you can easily buy one product from a good brand that you at least get to try before purchasing. On the other hand, it is nice to get a surprise every once in a while and be exposed to new brands. In this edition of the Cohort box, I was pleasantly surprised by brands I was unfamiliar with! Yes, this means that I do not regret getting the box, but I am not sure just how many more I will want in the near future. Okay, there might be one more due to my stupidity, but no more after that, at least for a while. Also, I forgot to mention that the value of the items in the box is higher in terms of pounds, but it might not necessarily be worth as much for me personally.
What did this edition of Cohort contain?
- Plum & Ashby – Honey and Jojoba Oil Hand Cream – full size
- New CID – I-Intense Mascara – full size
- Figs & Rouge – Flawless Canvas Balancing Primer & Colour Corrector – full size
- Too Faced – Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick – full size
- Lancome – Visionnaire Advanced Multi Correcting Cream – sample x 2
As you can see, the content is pretty amazing, especially when it comes to sizes offered. However, personally, I don’t really have a use for some of the products, in particular the mascara. I am going to try it anyway, especially since I did start wearing mascara occasionally, but I am quite particular about the ones I can stand on my lashes. Furthermore, the melted lipstick by TooFaced is something I have been meaning to try for a while and even though I had another one of those, I had to give it away due to the colour. This time I did try it, but the plum colour that was in my box does not suit me at all. The rest of the products I am more excited about though, however I will tell you what I think about each one in more detail once I get the chance to try them out for a longer period of time.
Overall, Cohorted boxes are pretty good and I do not feel as bad anymore about making the purchase and truly, it is not really about the money especially considering just how much I spent lately on advent calendars and gifts, it is more about what you get for what you pay. I won’t be upset if indeed I will get a second box on this subscription and I am sure I will most likely subscribe again to their service, however not anytime soon. This service should be more like a one time off fee rather than a subscription as far as I am concerned. In my opinion, the box is good but not great, but I do believe it tries to offer value to the people who buy it and also it would make for an amazing gift for someone who maybe is just starting to consider purchasing more high end products.
