You might have heard about NYX by now. If you haven’t (which I kinda doubt), NYX is an american beauty brand that sells high quality, affordable products. The downside is that it is really difficult to find in the UK. When I first heard about it, I was unable to find it anywhere. I knew from other bloggers that some of the Boots stores carried the brand, but each time I went into a store I left feeling disappointed. Now, when I think back on it, I realise that I should have looked up which Boots carried it as the information is available online (as I later discovered). However, that’s not the worst part. Guess which Boots I did not even consider checking? Yep, you are totally right. The store I forgot to check was my local one. Yay! The good news is that now I know where to look, but also that the brand is becoming available in more and more stores throughout the UK.
The NYX Shine Killer primer is not the very first product I bought from the brand, however it was part of my first big haul. The reason I decided to start with this one is that I have been looking at the primers I own lately. Some of them are old and others are almost empty. I need to make some space for all the things I will probably end yup buying next academic year as well as decide which products I am taking with me when school is back on.
Okay, okay 🙂 Enough rambling. My first impression was that the clear NYX Shine Killer primer feels exactly like a high end one. I was truly excited about that as it was only 11£. That only lasted a few minutes, soon after I realised that the container is only 20ml instead of 30ml, the usual size of a primer. I long accepted the fact and I do not regret my purchase as it still comes a bit cheaper than high end ones and has the same quality.
After using NYX Shine Killer for a couple of months now, I have to say that I am incredibly happy with the quality of the product. It makes it easy to apply my foundation. I even tried using it with both high end and drugstore foundations to see if it works the same – it does!
I whole heartedly recommend the primer. It is especially useful for those who do not use it every day or too often as it comes in a smaller container so it won’t sit in a drawer for too long. Also, it does help with shine control but not for more than 4-5 hours. That is fine by me, as other product do not last that long. Overall, you honestly get your money’s worth with this product and it is without a doubt a must have. As you can see, I made sure to have a second one just in case I finish my first one while on holiday. I haven’t and I used the primer a few times each week since June. This is definitely a product I plan on repurchasing. Give it a try!
